  • 2002 Vanguard: likes? dislikes? what to plan for?

Perhaps I am jumping the gun here, but I'm on the cusp of finally owning my first Argo, something I've wanted for a very long time. It's a used machine, a 2002 6x6 Vanguard. I haven't actually seen it yet. (I live in a bush village in Alaska and the machine is in Anchorage.) A friend of mine (whose a mechanic) gave it a going over for me yesterday, as he is in Anchorage for a work related conference. He gave it a thumbs up and so I'm moving forward.

So, for those who have experience with this particular model, what did you like? What did you not like? Words of advice... pearls of wisdom, regarding this model and for a first time Argo user. I am not new to recreational vehicles, having owned a fair number of 4 wheel ATVs and oodles of snowmachines in my life, but this will be my first Argo.

Anything you can share is appreciated! Thanks! Photos to follow if it goes through and when it's here.

Hi taxidermist welcome to 6x6 world. Did you pick up the wetland camo pattern vanguard off Anchorage craigslist? If so Its in very good condition, I checked it out a while back. The only thing I would do is buy yourself a set of the new Argo/ Carlisle tires at allseasons argo in anchorage. You wont be able to swim with the tires that are on it. I know they are not cheap but you will be very happy with them when you get into the water. Take care, akranger
