Argo 8x8 seems to flex alot??

Hi all, looking for advice on my argo. I haven't had it very long and it seems to flex a lot when going over things, is this normal? From videos (youtube) I have watched they don't seem to do it as much at all! any advice would be really appreciated!

My 6x6 seems to flex a lot but it is a 1970. I read on here about maybe welding in a steel floor pan between the frame rails. Maybe even some cross braces would help stiffen it up a bit. I don't have much time on my machine yet but my brittle abs (I think) body is already dveloping a few small cracks.

The argo will flex quite a bit, you can feel the back of the seat move when driving. Fitting a rops will stiffen it up but I have found the machine is better off road with out rops.

What machine do you have? I see your from the uk.

Yep. Mother argo figured out that when your creaping across logs, if the tub/body flex, it allows for a better distribution of weight so your less likely to get stuck. If your truly worried, clean and paint your frame. Any broken welds will become apparent as it chronically "cracks" the paint

Thanks for the advice, I have started some work today on stripping it right down and going to clean it up. The machine is an 8x8 argo, I think its an early 80's machine and i'm up in Norfolk. Looking for new bearings for the whole machine, are they standard off the shelf bearing? or do I have to get them from a Argo specialist? Is there anything anyone would recommend doing whilst I have it in pieces? Thanks again for all the advice.

Local bearing supplier will get you bearings and chains no problem. Bearings, seals and chains while it's all down is the way I'd go.

While it is apart, i would weld a solid steel sheet in the bottom... say 14 ga would be fine. Extending the front frame rails so you can run standard axles shafts are a good idea to.... Jack shaft bearings are a must also.

I have made the decision to replace all the bearings however i'm not sure whether I should replace the chains. The steel sheet seems to have rotten through, so I'm hoping that will make a significant difference to the movement. Does the steel sheet only cover the center section or does it cover the underneath of the channels where the chains and sprockets are?
The tyres are 21/11-8, can I get bigger ones to fit without spacers? Thanks again

The plate only runs up the centre of the machine.

22-11-8 should fit on.
