  • ARGO XTI

Hello first post on this site im going to be joining the Argo world soon and have decided on a loaded xti wow being canadian i figure over 40k for everything

the machine will be used for hunting and fishing I cant see ever wanting to take the tracks off as I have a side by side for trail rides. are the 18" HD tracks with the 24" turf tires a better system than the tracks over stock tires ?
thanks for your time im gonna have a lot more questions

might try that question in the track section the more i read maybe im better off with the avenger? how important is the rops when kids are involved ?

What part of Canada are you from?
I would suggest trying to attend a group ride or two, and ride along with other members. You could check out different machines in person, probably even drive a few and be able to make a better informed decision. $40k is an awful lot of money to spend without knowing just what you want.

As far as the ROPS, I haven't rolled one yet...and I have one that will do 40+mph. BUT, they can be rolled. Do your kids do things they shouldn't do?......(like drive a vehicle w/o suspension 40 mph)
If you ride/ drive one, you may get a better idea of how stable they really are.

You might want to talk to Tim at Adair Argo Sales about those tracks. He just had an XTI at his place with tracks. It was one awesome looking machine, I'm sure he would know what tire/track was best for your use.

Tim at Adair Argo could probably point you in the right direction concerning what kind of tires work best with what kind of tracks.

Yes he is member 'Obsessed' or it might be easier to discus track options by just calling him at 641-740-2752.

Generally the XTI is a commercial machine. Not trying to change your mind but that is a lot of machine and a very stiff price. Have you considered the New Avenger with the rear seat set up. It has the same engine as the XTI but, i don not think you will ever hurt the XTI. Jim is giving you some very sound advice, get with a few members on a ride and i am sure you will be able to make your best decision. Don't get me wrong the XTI is a great machine but there is so much of it for what you want to do with it. Just something to ponder on.

Forget the ROPS if you will be using it in water. The problem isn't the weight of it, it's that it raises the center of gravity and makes it extremely unstable in water. My friend and I put an aluminum rack on his, similar to the ROPS but much lighter, the thing was SCARY in the water. I had to hold onto to his machine as we were scared it was going to roll so far it would take on water. It's now only used for ice fishing and removed for water.
