  • New chains

Hi all, i just want to be sure that this is normal...I have changed the chains and bearings and when everithing is connected it's really hard to roll the wheel...I think it's normal but hey better safe than sorry...

    Thanks again.

With the chains disconnected, were you able to spin the tires fine? Have you driven it any at all yet? If not, I'm sure your new chains are really tight and probably what's causing the resistance. As long as they spun fine without the chain I would drive it around the yard for a few minutes to let the chain start to stretch and then try spinning the tires again. It should be easier once the chain stretches.

Thanks Mike...Yep they where turning fine without the chain...I think it's just because the chains are new and very tight. I will finish the left site today and try it to see if they will stretch.

I would love to drive the thing for more than 5 minutes...So far, i only drive it from my trailer to my garrage....

      Thanks again.

I recently changed the chains on my 04 Bigfoot and did find the wheels a little tougher to turn compared to before the new chains. The chains were tight and in the last month have loosened up a bit which is what I think you'll experience once you start driving it.

Also check that they are in alignment.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.

            How do you check alignment?

You want the sprockets that a chain connects together to be aligned so that the chain is running straight and true. To check the alignment, you can measure the distance from the frame to each sprocket and make sure they are similar. Just be aware that many frames are tweaked / bent / twisted. With that in mind, a square can come in handy.
