  • Aluminum rack being made locally.

Here's a rack a guy is making locally.

Went by and looked at it, and it was very nice.

What is he asking for them?

I doubt free would be worth getting one for you. The guy is only local to a few members in Alaska. Shipping to the lower 48 would probably be more than buying one that is local to you.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

        $1,000

It's a well thoughtout and designed rack.

I met with him about a week ago - as stated, they looked well made - the pricing varies just a bit depending on options, but they are very very competitive compared to the other options locally - I'm having him build me one with just a few modifications to it from the one pictured. He had three orders in before me as well for the same customer. I'm very much looking forward to getting it, painting it and getting it installed.

I'm going to have one done up as well with a few changes. I want another vertical bar going from the rack to the tub at about the windshield.

We talked about expanded aluminum for the deck, but think I want to go with diamond plate with "drips rails" over the fabric top door.

What I like about his compared to some of the other local options, is his look like they were purpose built for an Argo and not just some material laying around the shop used to make a rack.

What modifications have you got in mind?

I'm having a front bar across between the front uprights to move brush aside (also provides a great area to install an led light bar up high, yet protected) instead of trapping it in the middle and using angle aluminum for mounting on the tub at all points, so it'll just go on top of the rubber molding, instead of under/inside it like his - it'll help distribute the weight better and also be much easier to take it on/off as needed. Plus he might have to adjust the rear angle vertical bars to adapt to where my outboard mount already occupies space on the edge. I've also been thinking of coating it in that liquid rubber/bed protector type material, but I'm not sure how well it would stick and stay on..........if not I'll just krylon it.

I think you'd have a similar response if you were to see one of my infamous 6X6World bumper sticker pics. Right everyone? haha.

If that's aimed at me, not much to take pictures of yet. Pile of parts here, pile of part there.

That heat wave week before last made me think breakup was here, so I moved the tub and frame outside to work on. Two days later we got 16" of snow.

As to the rack, I'll have my built to my Argo so we can make sure she fits as soon as the Argo is back together again.

The original Argo dealership here in Alaska bumper sticker was:

Take it out and play with it. Alaska Argo.

Kinda hard considering Alaska Argo hasn't been around for something like 20+ years.

I am curious if this thread was talking about Husky Freighters in Wasilla. Who else is reasonable here? I certainly haven't seen anything for $1000. I'm currently weighing the options of buying aluminum or having someone just build me a rack for my hdi.
