Next step for me now is to fit an angle iron belly band to the 8x8, is there a tried and tested size / gauge ? Anyone fitted one and after a while thought "bu**er, I wish I had used so and so instead" ?
No-one ? you've not fitted, say, 2" x 2" x 3/16 and thought damn it, I should have used 2" x 1.5" x 1/4" ??? Just want to avoid any unforeseen pitfalls as there's a lot of cutting and welding to be done here.
I use 2x1.5x 3/16 on the MAXs it matches factory roll cage mount. I've always used aluminum on the Argo. 2x2x1/4 so I have lots of meat to weld uprights for the top. Good luck I've learned to drill the point of the v cuts when making a bend. This keeps the notch from pinching as much, better off with a slight gap than to tight.
I think I have a nice setup on my Argo too
I don't have a thread I the topic, but I believe I've mentioned that I think I would rather have made my front pushbar made from 2"x1.5" Angle instead of 2"x2". Reason:
2" hangs down too much around the front, it is very possible and annoying to push another machine, and end up locked together.
It might be even better out of 2"x1", but to be honest, I have not looked to see which would work better for me.
This vid is a good example of what I mean

Cheers Rock, what gauge did you use, I'm thinking 3/16" ? And I notice it appears you have gone over the rubber band whereas I have removed mine completely.
Great video, watching the little girls driving the Argo takes me back many years to when my little girl used to drive my trialler. A cushion under her so she could see and one behind her so she could reach the pedals and away she used to go. Great to see kids learning to do things for themselves at an early age.
Mine is 1/8"
As you can see, the push bar hangs too low, and is in need of a paint job, lol.
I don't think it matters if you leave the rubber or not, in my case, there is about 50" between my front bumper and my rear rack that still shows the rubber body band.
Tried to get the kids out in the Argos today, but it's snowing and they are still inside, in their "jammies". :-)

Reason: Mistake
Cheers Rock, the picture makes it look like 1/8" doesn't it? I think they do a 40 x 20 x 5 over here which I'll take a look at. I'm not using the vinyl belly band so will not need the depth. I'm sure they used to do a 2" x 1" x 1/4" but can't see it listed any more, it's this damned euro metric thing that's messed everything up. We should just tell them go spin on it and then go back to imperial measurements.

Sorry, my mistake. Yes it's 1/8", I went back and fixed my post.
