argo vanguard winch wiring

I'm just restoring a 93. The winch and the 4 post switch is there, but no wiring. Anyone have a pic or diagram on how to hook it up?

If it's the black box you may be better off making a dual solenoid system, the parts for the black box are long discontinued.

The first thing I would test is put the winch in gear, and then see if the drum turns. Some older winches had NO LOAD HOLDDING BREAK. That can be dangerous, if you winch up an incline, lose power some how, and slide back down... You or the Argo could get hurt. I'm only mad at them because I had an Argo half way up on a trailer, had the battery go dead, and I let off the "winch line in" button and it came down off the trailer before I could get booth hands on the breaks! If my wife or children had been behind the Argo.... That would have been bad news.

Any Tera winch from super winch won't brake the bank, and they do seem to last for a long time. It is up to you if you want a 4500 or 3500 or 2500.... I think the 3500 would be fine. If you need to pull harder, use a pully (snatch block)

30 bucks and you will have to find the wires you need. It is a six lead. Two will be for the in/out winch switch, two will be for + - on the battery and two will go to the winch. If it isn't lab else, the "blade" connectors will go to the in/out/ switch. The rest can be fou d with a tester. Let me know if you go that route and ill help.
