  • Argo hour meter gone wild

Pulled out our 06 Vanguard to take some pictures, considering selling, and was shocked to see the hour meter showing 788 hours when it should have been 218.

How are these meters wired into the machine? I had to replace the battery this spring, if it's wired into the ignition switch, and we tend to leave the key in the ignition, could this have happened if the key was left in the run position for 24 days?

Not trying to be deceptive here, is there anything I can do to fix?

Buy another hour meter, hook it directly to a battery and let it run back up to the 218 hours your Vanguard really has then change out the meters.

Install a oil pressure switch at your oil filter, and wire it through that. The hour meter only works with the motor running.

If the key was left on it will run til the battery is dead.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.
