  • Brake seal change

I have a leak in my left brake. I have a new seal set. I watched rockdoc's video on changing the seal and it seemed pretty straight forward.

Here's the problem. How do you get the caliper off? In the vid (seen here:Argo Brake Seals - YouTube) he seems to have a screw driver going through the brake rotor to get at the bolt. Is there supposed to be a hole? I moved my machine around but didn't see a hole. It's possible it was hidden everytime I stopped but I thought I'd check.

    Any advice?

    Thanks,

    Garrick.

There is a hole in the rotor that will allow you to get an allen wrench to the bolts. Put it in neutral and spin the rotor around when it is cool and you should be able to see it.

You have to line the hole in the rotor up with the 2 bolts in the caliper. Take an Alllen wrench. Pretty easy.

So I'm making progress. Got the brakes apart and replaced the seals. After reassembly and remounting onto the Argo I can't seem to close the bleeder. Even after it's tight it still squirts fluid out of the bleeder.

I swapped bleeders from left to right to see if the problem followed but it did not. Sounds like it's the caliper that's giving me the problem. I couldn't see anything stuck in the hole causing the bleeder not to seat fully. Has anybody else seen this?

After looking back at the manual I believe I'm missing the little steel ball that goes into the bleeder hole before the bleeder.

That should be fun to find!
