  • 2000 argo Bigfoot questions

Hi everyone, I'm new to the site and to aatv's in general. I've browsed the forums a bit, and there is tons of great information on here.
I am looking at buying a 2000 argo bigfoot with 70 hours on it. Is this normally a reliable machine if looked after? I plan to use it to access my trap line up here in northern saskatchewan. It is all muskeg and trying to walk out of there would be a disaster. Is there any common problems to look for before buying?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I have a 2001 and love it. I have only been stuck once and eventually got it unstuck. Lift it so the wheels are off the ground and wiggle them, that will tell you if the bearings are good or not. I went and replaced all my bearings and chain without too much difficulty. There is a buyers checklist here on the site that is pretty comprehensive. No experience with muskeg but watch the videos by rockdoctor, he's up in Canada and lots of experience, give a good idea of running the muskeg with and without tracks.

My friend has a 2000 Argo Bigfoot , which he bought new .. ,he has taken very good care of it maintenance wise , using it for work here in MA for both EPA and the National Grid , plus uses it around the farm to collect fire wood ..he has thousands of hours on his machine, but like any machine if it is taken care of it will last a long time and work well ... The only problems that I know of is that the electrical system due to outside "help" that has not been the greatest so he has had to replace hour meters and winches etc ...if there is any weakness that in my opinion it would be the low amp charging system limits you on the use of stock lighting .. but up grading to the new LED lights will go a long way . Again this is only my opinion so it's only worth what you pay for it ... Me if I had a chance to get one at a fair price and knowing/having the means to fix any issue I found I would be on it in a heart beat .... They are a Tank ...
