auxilary alternator

has anyone added an auxilary alternator to there argo i have a 1988 magnum.i know that it will rob me of some hp but a dead battery really sucks too

Does your Argo have a Kohler engine? Is your rectifier working? On my 1985 Argo with a 18hp Kohler magnum, the rectifer blew causing the battery not to charge. Once I replaced the rectifier the charging system provided enough power to power the winch, headlights, backup light, horn, and 12v accessory outlet.

I have one on my Hustler, it runs off the pull start pulley......on a 16 h.p. BS engine.....Just make a mount, after you get a belt, and, make them fit......
