  • Dual wheels kit or tracks?

I saw this while doing my search on the Argo. I know I want to get tracks on my Argo when I will buy one. But is those dual wheels kit sure look like they will be able to do the same job as a set of tracks or maybe not? I am pretty sure they will make the argo a better swimmer than a set of tracks. What do you guys think of these?

I do not think it would replace tracks

It would not replace tracks but you could put some mega wide ones on and stay on top of the fluffiest powder snow but Super Tracks should be enough .

Duellies and tracks would look mean

Why do we waste tax money on bridges and roads when we can all just drive AATVs

I was thinking about this the other day.
I could run my 24" Frontiers, and double them up with the 22" Runamucks. That way I would be running around on the bigger tires, until I start to sink in the mud/muskeg. Then all tires would come into play.

The problem is that I can't think of too many places where this would be needed. Might just be more trouble than it's worth. Maintaining tire pressures in 8 tires (12 with a trailer) is bad enough, 16 would be hell (20 with the trailer)
Not to mention getting access to the inner tires

Cool idea though, and duelly tracks would look just plain MEAN

          Agreed
Axle extensions, for the Supertracks, are bad enough

            Larry had a cool idea

            Larry's idea

you would not require axle extensions with duallies

                16 Wheeler

How is this for a setup, I'm sure some of you guys will recognize it, it's called a "Bushswamper", they also made a "Grizzly" version with 24 wheels. The chain drive is submersed in oil, it runs down the middle and is only about 8" wide. It's the only place you can get high centered on. I know the foreman who ran the shop where they produced them for about 20 years or so, he said they were virtually unstopable. They could put a whole moose on it and run it through the swamps with no problem.

Do you know what they used as a transmission?

There's a brochure of that Bush Swamper in the literature section: http://www.6x6world.com/forums/brand...h-swamper.html

                    It says "unique non-skid steering"

I have the 18 inch super tracks on my bigfoot and they seem to do a great job. It floated over 18-20 inches of fresh powder snow like it was only 3 inches deep. The ice cleats are great too. they give you just that little bit of extra grip you need to make the machine unstopable.

                        More Bushswamper Pics

I think from the pic's you can see the steering mechanism. It has 2 identical gearboxes with f-n-r, so you can do zero radius turns. The way it steers is by turning the steering wheel, there is a linkage that opens one of the driver clutches, and at the same time activates the brake on that side.

What I think you are describing is a type of skid steering one would find in a some types of Bobcats or Bulldozers .

If that is the case the brochure is misleading stating “unique non-skid steering”
