Just got back from two weeks in the boreal, our first time with argo's. Argo's are simply amazing machines. Learned a lot about driving them. Had to build a couple bridges with saplings, a buck saw and a 17" hatchet were nice to have, as was a strap to wrap around trees.
Next year they'll both be sporting a winch on the back as well, and if we can afford it, tracks. Midway through the trip we had around 10hrs on them so spent an afternoon on maintenance. Just greasing and tightening the idler chains that had stretched on the red 96 was all that was required.
No moose this year despite our best efforts, could have shot some wt and a couple bear(one nice one). The birds are blue grouse, excellent table fare.
Takes awhile to believe they'll make it through an area that at first glance seems it should be impassible. The pic of the green 98 is just through a particularly nasty muskeg creek delta with a small lake just left of the photo. Lot's of holes and the creek was running quite high with sharp banks. Just past that where the cutline narrows was one of our calling spots. I suspect we were a little early as bulls would come in, but were staying deep in the dense willows.
The pic of the sloppy mud is deceiving, that's bottomless. Had the red one stuck good, on a steep angle crosswise. I just stood on the back high corner, wife put it in reverse and we crawled out with ease, tried a different angle for success. Pretty cool machines!
