If you want to experiment a bit, I've got a set of used high-speed sprockets left over from a project last month ...if you want to give them a try I would be happy to give them to you...they add a couple of teeth and increase top gear speed to about 27mph...pm me your shipping address if you want me to send them to you...

I went the opposite way and geared mine down, while it did decrease the top end, it makes the machine much more peppy across the power band.

Where did you get the lower gears from?

You could replace your double 50 24 teeth sprockets on your front and second axles (Part # 810-28) with double 50 19 teeth sprockets (part # 810-29). The sprockets to replace are the ones driven by the idler shaft. Keep in mind you will probably need to remove a full or half link from the chains on these sprockets to take up the slack from the smaller sprocket. The 19 teeth sprockets were used on the earlier model Conquests and magnum models before they went to single 60 chain from the second axle back. Other than the number of teeth they are identical in design.

Argo sells them, its the 3.3 gear sets, makes an awesome difference, the Briggs 23 horse lives the mid to upper range of the power band anyway, and the lower gearing compliments the 23 Horse engine very well. For the Hustler guys out there, it feels low geared now like a Hustler 980.

A couple of things I'd be concerned with would be the suspension currently consists of 3" of foam below your butt.. Too fast and I think the operator would take a beating.. The other would be the drive train and how does it like the faster speed... How much faster are we talking about?

That would be good just to try it how is it on the bottom end tho for getting around in the bogs an stuff . I guess if u put it in low rang on the tranny it should still pull its self around pretty good tho

Did you buy just the gear set and did you do the work yourself? I was looking into lowering my transmission gears. I can get a whole new transmission on the web (3.3 gears) for $2100, and for the local dealer to do the work of changing my gears out is not that much less than an entire transmission. But if it was something I could do myself then................
