  • Starting issue on avenger

I'm kind of new to Argos and was wondering if anyone else has had any starter issues with the avenger. When I try start it it just sounds like the starter is spinning but if I leave the key on for a few minutes it starts every time . Anyone else have any ideas why this would happen is my starter maybe broke?

E.F.I or carb motor,is the engine actually turning over when the starter first spins, have someone look to see if the clutch at the belt drive is turning, you say you leave the key on,is that in the run position or do you mean the crank position,if its E.F.I turning the key on and waiting a few second,s for the fuel pump to cycle to pressure is normal and actually what should be done to start these machines.NCT

Gees Louis you are having some issues, when you cycle the key to run position the fuel pump cycles and shuts down until it get started,it is on a relay that looks like a cube and may be faulty, try in the cold turning the key on for about ten seconds and then back off then on again wait ten seconds ish and crank it,it has to have fuel pressure at the injectors to fire.Hope you have some better luck get her fixed they are a great machine and tough as nails.NCT

Just typed for fifteen minutes and hit the wrong thing lost it SOB,both clutches slide off but are usually rusted in place good penetrant and heat and swing press(hammer) the clutch is screwed anyway so your not hurting it. This is the express instructions as I hate this stupid keyboard.NCT P.S when you mount the new one never seize alot

Sometimes these machines can get ya down but fact still remains nothing will do the things these things do,most times its lack of maintenance that gets us in a spot, and trust me I speak of myself as this past year has been a roller coaster ride with little to no time for maintenance and all my machinery is suffering,I have spent most of the day yesterday upside down changing out the two front axles and bearings to HDI axles/Brg assembly's as I have been busting the original style axle flanges, and want to put the tracks on soon as I write its a blizzard outside. That said its the front two that are the worst to get at so I tackled them first, but are replacing all 8 axles/brgs,then on with the tracks and back on with the plow and game on.NCT

Well you seem to be in the same boat as me I put in the new bearing and clutch wasn't to bad first time changing a bearing and a clutch I greased everything I could see . I just bought this machine so I have no idea how he maintained it . Also I solved the starter problem the solenoid wouldn't engage the starter so I replaced it and it seems to be starting fine thank god.

I had to take the clutch out a month ago. The argo was at my camp, so not all the tools to work with. The cluch was jammed tight. Rust. We had to take a pry bar and a long steel bar to hit on it very hard with an axe. It took us a long time to do it. It was really jammed. Next time I will put some anti-seize on so it will be easy to take off.
