  • Changing inside grease zircs

Trying to change the grease bearing zircs on inside front axels of 98 Conquest. These do not have a way to attach a wrench and I don't want to strip them out Any suggestions on an effective way to remove.

I just ended up ordering new stamped flanges with 90 degree grease zergs from my argo dealer and replacing them so they are easier to get to. Only about $5 each.

      HI
Some grease nipples are press fit ,no threads and no hex . Others can be self taping with and without hex .That's what I have experienced in heavy industry .
Is drilling and tapping and option ?

That's the way to go , they are press fit fittings.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
        Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

My 650HD has press fittings, several have popped and I have tried lock-tite, they still pop. My local Mechanic sugested tapping hoses to the fittings and bringing the flex hoses to a block so all of them can be greased at one location. This sounds like a good idea for the inside of the machine. ( sick of hanging upside down and backwards to try and grease the inside front bearings). I will let you know how it works.

Works great on heavy equipment. I never thought of trying it on anything else. Definitely keep us posted on this one.

Just be careful that the hoses don't get plugged up with dirt or old grease, then you won't be able to get any grease in at all.. I agree though with the idea cuz they can be a pain to get to..
