  • Chain adjustment

I suppose this might be another chain slap thread, which I'm not intending it to be. I tried some searching and found a few threads, but I want to be sure.

My chains on the right and left side, the ones that go from front to middle axel, are both loose rubbing on the floor panel. I can feel the distinct buzzing. It really only happens, though, when I'm either moving at a fast speed or when decelerating. So, almost constant at a fast speed, and then one or two good rubs when decelerating. I have both sides off the ground at the moment, one side has more slack than the other. I'm not sure how to adjust the chains or if they need replacement, or what's going on. And frankly, I need it broken down Barney style.

If you have the ratchet or click style adjuster with the machine off the ground rotate the 1st tire toward the back and the 2nd tire toward front, slack should be at the top, pull up on the adjuster while rotating it. Should click and take out the slack. If you have the older style in pre 99?'s you need new chains unless the springs are missing or tensioners are broken.
The wear pads should be checked for deep gouges.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.
