  • Vanguard Mechanical Brakes

I am hoping that someone here will have some insight into adjusting the brakes on my Vanguard.

I have had the rig for a year now, I have the service manual & I have completely disassembled the complete brake system. I replaced the pads, springs, ball bearings and worn nuts....

Everything works fine, but but I am wondering is can you overtighten the brakes? If I have clearance on the rotor and they do not drag..... can they still be adjusted "to tight"? If I adjust them according to the book and set the pull bars to 7" from the dash they work, but I like the feel of snugging things up a bit on the pads and adjuster bolts so the handles only come off the dash about 3-4 inches... very snappy and positive braking.... Am I doing any harm to the system?

    Thanks

Which place are you adjusting them at?

I would adjust them at the nuts on the rods at the base of the handle bars to your preference but do the jam nuts at the caliper and lock nut back from the caliper to spec.

Why do we waste tax money on bridges and roads when we can all just drive AATVs
