  • 2004 Avenger rear support kit install... fixing a droopy rear end.

Today was install day for the rear support hoop kit from Argo. The old girl was suffering from severe body flex under load.

Since the hoop kit is too large for shipment through US Mail, I had the folks at Argo Adventure cut the hoop in half so it would make minimums. Just a little welding and it was back to original shape.

The plans call for mounting to the pre-drilled standoff on the rear frame... of course the 2004 I own doesn't come with that feature. Nothing a little channel split in half cannot fix.

After welding the new brackets it's time for a little paint.

The rear stantions needed to be drilled to accomodate the rivets used to secure the skid plate to the tub.

Clamping the new hoop next to the tub and attaching.

The end results were nice straight body lines and increased clearance by well over an inch.

When ordering this kit, be aware that some welding may be required. Be sure to check the back of your frame. Chopping the hoop frame in half so that it could be shipped to Alaska through the mail worked out well for me. Hope this info helps someone else.

Or you could go this route if you have the facilities. http://www.6x6world.com/forums/argo-...got-droop.html

It didn't really take too long to do and this way it ties front and rear winch mounts into the frame and tub. My son is in the process of doing this to his new project, cheap and simple.

You're right there Sol, my bad manners for not mentioning the fact that King has gone to the trouble to post it. These posts must surely be a big help to folk who are, le's say, unsure of their own abilities and need to know what's involved before parting with money.

With all the above being said, looks & sounds like a good cure for the SAG. Thanks for the posting of pictures.
Question; what model year or years of argo have this defect to cause the body sag? Have they (ODG) corrected this problem so owners do not need to install the "engineered fix" ? I have asked argo dealers about this problem before & it was always down played as a problem of argo owners over loading the machine. Sorry for the ramble & grumbling on my part. They are is a great machine!

                Moos-a-boo

I believe that the avenger, frontier and HDI models up through early 2013 DO NOT have the rear support hoop installed from the factory. The change to include the support occurred on June 13, 2013.

Documentation for the 2004 frame indicates the rear mounting brackets are standard... not sure why my frame is different. Be sure to check your frame so you know if welding is involved.

I found this laying around my house. You could probably stiffen up the body and bring out the shine all in one package.

                      Max,

The only problem I see with the use of that stuff is that everyone in moose camp will be expecting me to have their hunting clothes all pressed and ready for "Safari"... unrealistic expectations.
