idle speed 2013 hdi

Just wondering what the proper idle speed is for my 2013 hdi...kohlers service manual says 1500 ...thats so it puts out a charge... but that wont work for argo....way to fast to shift....didnt see anything in argos service manual....maybe i missed it...I set mine at 800rpm...how far off am I and will that harm my engine?

I agree that 1500 is way to high. I think mine runs at 700 but I'm not home and can't check. Seems to me Most engines idle at 650-800.
