  • Best argo upgrades/accessories

    Hello,

Used to have a 2000 6x6 Bigfoot that I bought new in 2000 and had til 2006. Went to a quad but always missed the argo. I'm now seriously considering picking up a 8x8, although it won't be til next spring(2015). So this is just preliminary research/dreaming

So if you could build your dream argo, what would you consider to be the most important upgrades/accessories ? Here's what I'm figuring:

    Tracks(still undecided on what type)
    Track tuners
    Winch(duh)
    ROPS
    Hard cab
    Alternator
    Heater

Primary use would be moose hunting and trips to,the cabin over barren, rocky and boggy country.

    Tracks - yes
    Tuners - if needed
    Winch - of course
ROPS - depends on what you want - if you're worried about rollover, then yes. If you just want a rack to carry gear, mount lights and use as a tall stand in high brush, then go with an aluminum rack (I painted mine with a texture type black paint)
Hard cab - nice but limits you to just that. With a rack like mine, I can use my soft top under it up, down, half (no windows), whatever
Alternator - nice if you use your winch and extra lights a bunch, but I've never needed one yet - even while plowing in the winter which is a heavy use of winch and lighting
Heater - overkill I think - with just my soft top up, by the time I'm half done plowing I'm usually down to just a sweatshirt or less. The engine heat does fairly well. Anything colder where the engine won't heat up the cab enough usually means it's too cold to have a plastic machine out in anyway.
LED lights - absolutely - way brighter and less of a drain on the battery.

    Just my two cents.....

There are some great deals on the new Argos out there, in fact I've never seen such great promotions on pricing and financing. I agree completely with Inspcalahan on his recommendations, but even a base 8x8 with none of those options is a fine machine.
Let us know what you end up getting, and welcome back.

        Skid plate
        winch
        led lights
        role bar and seat belts
tracks if you want to play in the mud or snow.
