  • Opinion on New Argo

    Hello Everyone,
First post here, great forum. I am looking into getting a new Argo very soon and I am transitioning from lifted Atvs. I am steering towards an 8x8 and would like to put Adair tracks for the swampy riding in Georgia. I like the 750 HDi but the price is steep even compared to the 8x8 650 Frontier. I have read about the differences but was not sure if the price difference is worth the extra money. I can get a track kit for the Frontier and be close to the price of a HDi. I wish someone was close to me so I can get an up close and personal experience of the machines capabilities. I have been on YouTube a lot. I have often bought things in the past that I expected to much out of and became disappointed shortly there after. I understand there is nothing that fits all scenarios but I just got tired of breaking the Atvs each ride due to big tires, lifts and of course throttle. Thanks for any insight and advice, Randy

Hi Randy, Welcome to the site.
You would never consider buying a new car without test driving it....and the competitions model. Why do that with an amphib? Have a little patience, show up for a group ride or two and check out what everyone else has. If you are looking at sport riding, without the need for carrying extra cargo, you may want to check out a Max.
If you can spare the time, take a road trip to Mudd-Ox/Recreatives to check out the machines. Then head over to Iowa and compare. Personally I don't care for the standard Argo transmission, but the Admiral (in the HDI) seems to be FAR more user friendly.

Here is a little discussion/video on the std. trans. http://www.6x6world.com/forums/trans...vs-t-20-a.html

I agree that a test ride or two would be beneficial.

I went the 8x8 Frontier route with Adair tracks when I upgraded from my Max II a few years ago. I love it, and the service from Adair Argo has been exceptional.
