  • Argo 8x8 Has a slight pull to the left

Can somebody tell me why my Argo has a very slight pull to the left? How do I correct it so it will drive in a straight line over long distances?

    Hello matey,

Sounds like the left brake could be binding. Download the brakes manual from the link on the homepage, there's an adjustable pin for each side behind the handlebars, may need adjusting, procedure is in the manual, I'd start there.

I'm new to this Argo malarkey myself, there may be another reason someone more experienced knows!

      Hi Al, Welcome back.
There are lots of things that make them pull, and if the pull is slight, needs correction in about 100 yds, you probably wont find/fix it. The first thing to check for though is tire diameter. Adjust your air pressure so they are all the same circumference, as a larger tire travels more distance per revolution. After that, jack it up and rotate the tires by hand to see if you feel more drag on one side than the other. If you feel the drag, you may need to separate chains to run it down. Good luck.

We should get together for a ride soon.

Brakes binding, through miss adjustment, bent disk, excess heat.
Tyre pressure, size or tread pattern
Tight bearings, rusty chains On 1 side of machine - unlikely just 1 side

Run your Argo on the flat, do not apply the brake, check brake temps with a heat gun, they should be similar. I can check mine if it helps.

Jack it up, put on axle stands, run machine and look to see if one side turns easier than the other, with an open diff it wil turn the side with the least drag. Apply the brake to the side which is moving and gauge how much pressure you have had to apply to the brake, if it is little to nothing to get the other side to turn then you should be fine and it is just the characteristic of an Argo.
