look at the same spot on the front of the engine may be a second drain plug, the 18HP briggs is this way.

Front space is terribly limited... I'm thinking... Welding a bigger nut on it?

That is the drain plug, one is also on the front, try small pipe wrench or vise grips. Once out you could use an allen headed plug or make up a remote drain.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
        Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

Finally went to the front one... Not easy to work but with a ziplock the job is done.

If i took the transmission out some day i will weld a nut on it ;-)

          Thanks

All you need is an 8 sided socket from sears..dont bugger it up with vise grips...

I suck the oil out the fill tube and save all the mess with the drain plug.

try turning it in just enough to move it and then try backing it out if done this many times and tap it lightly with a hammer while turning

This is exactly the way to do it. Go to a auto supplier and pick up a oil extractor. This is how I do boats cause 90% don't have a drain plug accessible. Here is a link to one. http://www.amazon.ca/Trac-T10062-Flu...=oil+extractor

Oil hand pump extractor is the only way to go. You won't even get you hands dirty.

                      HI
It is always best to drain from a plug rather than suck it out as this always leaves some debris behind . V twin vanny total oil is only 2 quarts . Install a pipe fitting into thread and run a length of hose with a plug ,tap , ball valve in the end of the hose . Drain into a 1-4 quart container in between chassis rails .
