Argo Bigfoot Drive belt issue

2000 Argo Bigfoot bought new, original belt worn but still very operational after several thousand hours ,,yes thousand .... got a new belt , had it less than 3 years and the belt is now stretched and breaking down and slippery with slimy dust ... belt very soft .. reinstalled old belt ... What gives ? Same numbers on belts but composition and feel of the two belts very different is this a bad belt or is this the way of things to come ?

Do u rub the clutch faces with green scotch bite pads occasionally .Clean with a wipe of white spirit afterwards . Alloy corrosion can have bad effect on belt condition .
I have had machinery belts last 100 hrs and the next belt 400 hrs . The first belt deteriated and fell apart .Belts age sitting on a shelf also even if they r not used .
The argo fellas on the site may give u more specific experience also .
