  • What Argos are good swimmers? Doesn't seem like the rawhides do very well

I got a chance to use my friends with 22" rawhide and I couldn't believe how bad it was in the water. Not very controllable at all and barely moved. I have driven a max iv in the water and have to say its control and thrust were fantastic. Are these tires just not good on water.

On land this same machine is absolutely amazing and just as good in the marsh type areas but free floating not so good.

Swimming is all in the tires/tracks. Seems like the tires that do best in the water only do ok on land & vice versa.

Are the tires mounted correctly for swimming? My conquest swam ok with 22" rawhide3 tires.

This is my 3rd argo and never found they swim good. I've had rawhide and last few change them for bearclaw on my avenger ( more agressive) but it's worst with agressive unless you put them backward but you lose traction on the ground. I also had a max 1V. There is no comparasion. The max goes a lot better in swimming. But for my needs wasn't built strong anough and I also needed more room ( 8 wheeler, response and avenger)

Brebett thats my observation exacty. Not sure exactly why but the Max IV is VERY precise in the water and the Srgo at times amost felt helpless. You really need to experience them both as you have to see what I mean. I eventually got better with it but as you said I would say there was no comaprison but I also agree that I think the Argo is a better machine for other purposes. Always tradeoffs I guess.

Just curious..... When you guys "Swim" your Argo's, do you try to steer them with the brakes??

I use my brake to steer. Mine swims better than I thought. But no, no Argo is going to swim real fast.

I've always found that trying to steer with the brakes in the water to be very frusterating. Most of the time I just hold the throttle in the appropriate position, and lean the machine in the direction I want to go. It just seems to be easier to maintain a course and to recover from a turn. When I try to steer with brakes, I find I loose momentum, and also end up with a very zigzagy path.

I've got an 06 Bigfoot, when I bought it, it had the rawhide III's on it. They did alright in the water I thought, until I traded them for the newer high lug Argo style tires. They came off of an avenger, iam very impressed what they do in water. Almost like having a little kicker in the back. Even in a creek with some current in it they just go.

I've got a bunch of videos..... But no u tube account.
