  • Kohler 750 EFI fuel pump

Just put a new fuel pump in my 2009 Avenger and noticed when I turn the key to acc position prior to starting it continues to run and does not stop.

Is it supposed to stop once it reaches the correct pressure???

Fuel is continuously being pumped to the fuel regulator and back to the tank.

I just want to be sure that this is normal as I thought I read somewhere that it should cycle and stop......it only continues to pump while it is running.

    Thanks, Rick

The pump should cycle on for 2 seconds then off 3-4. Pump is controlled from engine controller. Runs continuously in crank or run. The pressure regulator doesn't controll pump run. The kohler shop manual has a good section on EFI. I don't have an online copy handy.

Mine is definitely not cycling.....I hope it's not the ECU????

.....I assume it does not matter much as I don't plan on leaving the key in acc mode very much.....the engine will either be running or off.

I would appreciate input from others out there??

These EFI's are just way too complex.....should have stuck to the old reliable carburated B&S.

-The ecu switches off the fuel to prevent continued delivery if the engine is not running with the key in the on position (safety feature)
Once running fuel pump stays on and pressure is regulated to 39psi.
