  • Looking to mount fire extinguisher

Any ideas on where to mount a fire extinguisher on a 2007 Argo Avenger?
I don't want to store it under the seat because I would like to use that space for wrenches and blocks. I have the utility/ gun rack attached to the backrest and was trying to find a way to mount it in that area.
Any ideas or pictures would be appreciated. Thanks

        WASSUP with shoulder holster????????

If you find a cood spot, please let us know, The older machines like Evil 8x8s had a perfect spot on the firewall, not so on the Avengers. I had to put mine under the seat.poor location but I don't have a better idea.

Does anyone know if there is such a thing as an extinguisher that will discharge when the ring is pulled? I mean, where the ring is pulled and you do not need to squeeze the handle to get it to discharge.

Such a system exists in tanks. They are designed so that you pull a cord outside the tank and the extinguishers inside discharge. I wonder if something similar is available to the public.

When I was racing I built a custom fire extenguisher system I used a 5lb CO2 tank, 150PSI regulator, and a remote solenoid. I routed about 12ft of 1/4" steel pipe(with about 300 1/8" holes drilled in it) around the engine compartment, and capped off the end. I actually had to use the system on 2 occasions. It performed perfectly. I flipped a switch, and bam, the system dumped the tank untill I flipped the switch back!
This is more of a vehicle preservation system, and would do no good in a situation outside the vehicle! Still it does work, and is a cheap permenant solution!

George and Grease Monkey, Yes,you have the answer! A fire extinguisher is required by the Marine police in Ontario if you get stopped on the water. I did, by a 24 foot Limestone, they were laughing,I was in the Max IV. After I find a Remote activated model and mount it permanently near the engine on both machines they will last a lot longer! The one on the back lid of the Max is good for about 2 rides.

                Fire extinguisher location Avenger 06

EWS, this is the location of the fire extinguisher on my 06. No extra holes were drilled in machine. This is the plate prior to machining and painting. 3/16 aluminum plating. 16 inches long and 3 inches wide. This is just where i located mine.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"
