Have been going though my new to me avenger. I thought I had a couple bad axle bearings( tires had play), but the axle set screws were not tight. Then I checked all the drive sprockets and all those set screws were loose. Got that all fixed. Are the set screws something that should always be regularly checked? I would prefer not to locktite in the set screws (should degrease threads on screw and gear then a pain when you actually want to take apart). The other option I thought of is two short screws one for a lock. What do you guys do? Also the front drive axle gears do not have a set screw, the parts breakdown does not show them, is this right? Thanks for any info!!!

Better yet, put a hose clamp around the sprocket (covering the set screw. This way you'll never have to worry about the set screw being difficult to remove.
Gotta give credit for that idea to JerseyBigfoot (who swore to me it was his idea but I think he stole it from the folks at Apache Gear...snicker...snicker).Last edited by George; 12-15-2014, 08:08 PM.Banned
