  • Alternator Belt

When I first got my Argo it wasn't charging but the light was out. Traced wiring and found an unplugged connector, plugged it in and then it charged. Yesterday is stopped charging again, light did come on. Checked it out and to my surprise it has an alternator. The belt is broken and I can't tell if any of it is missing to size it up. It's a 2000 Conquest with the FD620D Kawi engine. Anyone know what size belt may fit this? The alt is buried under the right side front of the engine and looks like a real chore get to to try a bunch of belts to see what fits.

    Thanks!

I'm betting that the disconnected connector you found was to the regulator. The alternator install disconnects this on purpose (for reasons I don't know).

Here are the install instructions. I see they list the belt as VBelt 3/8" x 19".

EDIT - oops. I linked to the downloaded pdf on my machine. Go to the link now and download the alternator kit instructions for the conquest.

What a day. 13" of snow last night, plowing, winch spun off some teeth, 3 hours driving in unplowed roads to get a new winch. Stopped in the local NAPA and asked about the alt belt for the heck of it, almost passed out. Parts guys says ya, I know what you need, here it is. Unreal. He's an Argo nut too. Got the belt and made a friend!

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
          Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.
