  • Am I allowed to dream?

Big plans for my Conquest this spring. Going to change the braking/steering caliper controls to pull handle controls and fix the steering bars solid. rebuild the engine with a port and polish on the heads, intake, and exhaust. Moving the front seat rearward at least 6" and may even take on an electric motor plow angle system. Hope you have lots of parts in stock ArgoJim!

Sounds like a fun project. Be sure to post up some photos as you go.

Explain pull handle controls not sure whatcha mean,a little clean up on the porting cant hurt Luv the idea, more leg room is a great idea the Argo has always needed more leg room,in my Max IV i moved the seat rearwards and its great, power angle well make sure to put up pics great idea.Nct

Something like this to steer and brake with - Universal 2Pcs/Set Aluminum Alloy Motorcycle/Motorbike/Motorcross Brake Clutch Levers Master Cylinder with Reservoir CNC Black-in Levers, Ropes & Cables from Automobiles & Motorcycles on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group

Ahh got ya PaSean interesting post pics of your progress out of the box thinking intrigues us all, most all cool inventions started home brew with people that are willing to experiment and failures only leave the door open for future successes.NCT

Koowal ideas. That actually looks do-able. I was actually thinking of something like an F-16 joystick off to the side for controls. That would probably be way too think/labor intensive for me though. Sucks gettin old

Joystick sounds like a cool idea. You could use electric calipers or cable driven master cylinders or get real fancy and use 12v hydraulic actuators. Would take a bit of thought and maybe fabricating caliper mounts and some other things, but would be cool to have.

You know its funny that 12v hydraulic actuators were mentioned. They are useful for many things. Just imagine rigging those up to a T20 and doing without the linkage we currently have. Especially if there was a back-up shift handle of sorts actually on the t20.

I've got a machine that is an experimentation with electronic trailer brakes as well, and are actuated by a waterproof starter foot switch, one per side.

Just curious, did you get each side to work independently with one brake controller or are you using two controllers?

There are two brake controllers, one per side, the mechanism is controlled by the waterproof starter switches which I have one per side as well. It works pretty well after experimenting with the controllers slide bars I figured out a position that stopped the machine pretty quickly without overkill for most conditions. The problem with trailer brakes is that they engage rapidly and can be counterproductive if not modulated down. If I wanted to increase the brake action you merely have to slide the controllers over a bit for quicker engagement.

I do believe after spending a lot of time and effort in this system that hydraulic disc brakes work better, are more simple, and less likely to have issues.

Having said that, the 12v hydraulic actuators on a t20 seem like they have more potential. I've been playing around on the set up on a Max4 to remove all the complex rods and springs to simplify shifting on this machine.

I kind of thought you'd need 2 controllers, very cool idea. My plans aren't set in stone so I may tinker with the 12v hydraulics and making a set up for the shifter would be great too!
