I am attempting to source an Argo 6x6 for commercial use with rubber tracks. I learned they now use Kohler in their 23 hp. models however the dealer tells me the HDI is liquid cooled with an Admiral transmission being the difference from the HDI and Frontier both in 23 hp. . For extensive track usage the liquid cooled seems a good enough idea but does anyone know how the Admiral transmission is for track usage? On the surface the HDI seems the better machine of course at higher cost.Originally I believe Argo had some teething pains with the Admiral, Any comments would be appreciated.

My opinion is the HDi is not worth the extra money. I think that tranny has been fairly trouble free in the 6x6 with the lower horsepower and there's no question its an easier turning rig but a little seat time with the "traditional" tranny in the frontier and you learn to work with it. Using tracks, especially for snow use, would also push me to the frontier. Turns in the snow are better with the hard stopping inside track of the frontier versus the HDi where the inside track is still turning. That's been my experience anyways. Others may have had better experiences with the HDi in the snow.
