  • argo is being to expensive

i have always loved argos and will never go back to a mud ox or max. the only problem is, is that they are to expensive along with their parts.like come on a 22 by 10 tire is like $ 180 thats ridiculous. and then to get it mounted on the rim is like $200.and i heard they are not even that good. they need to bring their prices down abit on some parts its just too much to pay for.thoughts??

yeah I agree their parts are expensive but with not a high demand that's the way it works. I rebuilt a 1987 8x8 I/C a few years ago and put all new tires and chains, a new fuel pump, and a new battery in it. Once I was done I had about $2500 into new stuff on it. But I only paid $350 for it and it runs like a dream. I found that the best way to start it was shoot a squirt of gas into the carb and the way it goes. The tires are the best I have found for swimming and these machines will go through anything. It's the cost of our big boy toys.

Although the new Argo tire is expensive it is more aggressive in mud and swims very well, it also has the Runamok ride to it, if the Argo tire is out of range perhaps the reintroduced Runamok is your best bet. If you can deal with the lost ground clearance the AT101 is a good tire to use just smaller. The Rawhide III is a great tire though it will not work well in the Argo track, it will also require an 8 inch rim for proper fitment.

I am a firm believer in "stock is best" as these manufacturers do a lot of r&d for the best all around use, though many other tire designs will work for some applications but generally not all.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
      Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

yea i agree the tires are good. the only footprint you can see on the trail is the argo tire footprint even on hard ground. i just drive strait into what is ever in front of me while my friends have to around it !hehe
