  • Conquest brake fan on/off switch.

I have seen a few posts that guys put the brake fan on a switch to be able to turn it off when not needed.

I am thinking of doing this. Do you just cut the positive/hot wire to the fan and route that through a toggle?

That's what I do. I've used lighted switches wired to be lit when off so you see it when off. Just don't need that fan using up battery when not moving.

Using 2 relays? First one to make sure it does not have power when ign. is off and save the battery when parked.
2nd one because the switches light when on. Wire through the N.C. contact(closed when deenergized, open when switch is on). ????

Relay #1 should already be in the factory wiring to the fan.

Typed that one wrong. Use switch and lite, three terminal,2 position on/on switch. I just cut the power wire to fan and feed either the marker lite or fan. Feed is switched from the ignition.

I cut the ground wire and wired in a set of led lights parallel to the switch. 2 red lights come on when fan is off.

Follow the brown wire, mine went right to the ground block under the dash. 2 wires into 1 spade terminal, cur the brown wire and extend to the switch. With the ground broken there will be 12 volts on the wire you take to the switch, if you put a small LED and resisitor to that wire and wire the other end to ground, it will light up when fan is off. You can wire it right at the switch.

I did this mod by routing the brown wire that goes to the fan through a three terminal rocker switch. My Conquest has single bullet connectors/plugs on the wires near the fan motor. I simply unplugged the brown wire at the connector and then used the same male/female bullet connectors on the wires to the switch. It does make quite a difference on the volt meter at idle.
