  • 2002 argo bigfoot

I have a chance to buy a 2002 argo bigfoot with 90hrs on it in good shape are they a good machine? I have owned maxs all my life just looking for pros and cons?

ive got an 03 with 80 hours on it and I couldn't be happier. Only complaint is i miss those two extra wheels when I am floating down the creek for extra stability when a sneaky rock is hiding just under the surface. Good machine all the way though.

        03 Bigfoot

Junkman, my buddy, has an 03 Bigfoot and he loves his. He has 150 hrs on it and I asked him if he ever had any problems with it, the last time we were out and he told me he's never had problems with it as yet. He was knocking on wood but if you take care of them, they'll take care of you from what I've seen. I liked the 25" tires on them for sure. My 07 Frontier has 24" tires on it but was eyeing those 25 inchers while the tires were paddling the slop. His Bigfoot has been through some pretty muddy areas. I'd give it a good up and down though before I'd buy it. You normally can tell by looking at the inside of the tub if it's been taken care of or not.

I have a 2000 bigfoot and it's great. The owner before me didn't do much maintenance on it so I had to go through it good and greese, and change all the fluids. It goes anywhere I have asked it to go too. DH is right about the sneaky hidden rocks, They scare the hell out of me everytime. I hit one and my arms go flailing trying to hold on to something

I have a 2000 BigFoot,,I got it with 315 hrs on it,,has 18 hp Vangaurd, plow, 18" tracks, extra set Runamuck tires w/wheels, windshield, winch and the 25" Rawhides,,at 345 hrs I could tell the trans needed to come out,,,we pulled the top off the bottom tub,, pulled the motor and trans out,,found the left output shaft flopping around,,Oh and the best part,,is the previous owner had been in there before,,,see silicone on the case cover,,find chewed up bearings from a previous mishap,,,and it was put back together with the bad output shaft,,,,NICE !!

We replaced all 10 bearings,,seals, plug plates, and my son fixed the shaft at school, with a sleeve,,some pics below,,and the finished trans.

I would say check the trans fluid,,,,make sure it up to the mark,,,see if the Plug Plates(freeze plugs) are in place on the trans(see pics mine were off ?)

I like the BigFoot,,is a blast to go from land, into in the Pond, and back out(only owning ATV's before),,I just had to replace the Bilge pump,,and now(as of yesterday) the Blower motor that cools the brake rotors is making Growling Noise,,so prob need to replace that too soon!
All and all,,I am happy with it,,,Just a maintenence thing I guess,,,I was following my son on the road,,,he had it up to about 25 mph,,cranks along fast enough for me,,lol,,,,Mark

Losing a bead is pretty much expected on the argo 9" wheels if you're playing in the rough and sloppy at anything near a comfortable psi. Matt's aftermarket wheels are the best upgrade you can do to a bigfoot or avenger.

                      The wheel..

If you search this site for "Matt's wheels" there's a lot said about them already. Go to Members List and find Matt O. and email him for more info.
