  • 8x8 Conquest, Clutch or Transmission

For discussion purposes lets say the Kawasaki twin governs out at 5,000 rpm, at about 3,000 rpm I loose all torque to my drive train, this happens in both Hi & Low gear. When this happens the belt goes all the way into my driven gear, the engine governs out, and when I slow down to a slower rpm it will engage again and put torque to my drive train. I've just removed the driven clutch, took apart with no sign of any problems. Not sure what to do next? I've tested the Drive clutch and it closes and opens properly when just throttling up the engine without the belt on, it closes and opens up smoothly. Not sure what to do next?

Is this something that just started happening or has it always done this since you purchased the machine? What kind of shape is your belt in? Also, if you know, what width is your belt?

great point on the belt, never thought the width would wear and not the grooves or exterior. It measures 1-5/16". And I did notice a lot of fine black duct on the clutch & transmission area.
The problem just started this year. The machine gets hard usage making trails through our cattail swamp for deer hunting.

Check to see if both cylinders are firing at the higher rpm, the secondary sounds like it is working the way it should, if your belt is bad sometimes you will hear or feel it slipping. There are three ways to lose torque #1 reduced engine output (fuel spark compression) #2 clutching not shifting properly #3 increased load( parasitic drag) like a bearing or bushing partially seized anywhere after clutches. That is all I can think of right now, hope it helps!!!

          Clutch or tranny

Repairs by WWW. Pretty impressive. And, a belt is an easier fix than a clutch or tranny.
