  • upgrade away from tiller bars

Idk if this has been asked but is there a way to upgrade a 2001 conquest from tiller bars to the new style of steering

The 2004 conquest had the t bar steering, parts should be available. RR

New style steering wasnt as nice as I thought it would be on my 05 8x8, I went back to a 03 Bigfoot with the twin stick setup and like it alot better...

In my use t-bar works well. I can drive with one hand so its easier reverse with trailer because you can turn yourself more and still keep steering.

So it should be easy to convert it with a 2005

Just my opinion, but I would consider the t-bar a downgrade. The twin levers are by far the safest for descending hills and can more forcefully engage both master cylinders at the same time. The T-bar (handlebar) steering doesn't allow you to activate both brakes at the same time because you can't turn left/right at the same time - instead it relies on a hand lever/cable in an attempt to engage both master cylinders. Problem is, even the best adjusted cables can't do this forcefully enough. Sometimes it's difficult to keep clutches engaged or there is a fine line between engaged/controlled and engaged/accelerating. Once in while, you really end up needing both brakes at the same time..strong brakes. It's one great thing about the older machines.
