  • straping down argo

so I have read a few threads on here about scraping down an argo but this is kind of different i want to haul my argo and my camper now i built a sled deck that is 8' wide and 7' long as my ram has the 6.5 box so w ant to load it sideways along my truck but the trouble i am having is figuring out how to tie it down to the deck does anyone have any suggestions?

axle straps over the axle extensions.

My conquest has a single chain link welded to the center of the corner axles, works okay if you cross the straps back to front and front to back. It tends to move a little side to side. Whatever you do don't throw a strap across the center and ratchet it down. // RR

Simplest way if you dedicate the deck to the Argo would be to bolt or preferably weld the strap hooks of a 2 inch wide strap rearward of the front axle and frontward of the rear axle and locking it in place after going over all the axles.

23 years and near 150,000 miles on 4 trucks with machine in the back don't lie.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
        Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

Good solution Jim, is the deck removable? Appears the expanded steel keeps the tires from wandering.

Ive built like this but its 8' wide and on as long as my box so as my crude picture here shows i want to strap it down in this position.

Making permanent attachment points for the straps to catch or fixing them as mentioned will do the same on your deck, just look different. Your biggest issue will be climbing that high safely while making the crest.
Are you going to be able to travel down the road 10 feet wide? Not here without lights, flags etc.. Going on from the back and getting the six tires on the deck is really all you need, when I've hauled an 8 wheeler that's what I have to do. If you don't have rubber tracks it will be hairy.
Removing the bed and installing the deck would be safer and easier to load though labor intensive for each trip.

Climbing it should be no problem the ramp is over 8' long and as for the width of 10' i know over 8 ' you need lights and or flags but i have lights running the length of my deck. This is common to see were i live

Yes but I believe you'll find that is under 102". If you get a chance check with the locals before you're offered a chance to contribute to the donut fund .
