  • New Argo

Well every once in a while I'll show up here.. I work on lots of different projects.. not all of them are for this forum. I've restored a Bazooo, Jigger.. and I had three Terra Jets.. I now only have 2.. cause I traded one for an Argo ! The bazoo is in the museum... The Jigger has a new home.. So now I have an Argo.. 6x6 and I believe 1977 - 1979 vintage. Has the factory Tecumseh motor, and hi / low trans.. In good condition to.. I drove it on to the trailer.. That says something.. Most stuff I get is pushed.. If all you Argo experts out there know what year they made the two speed trans i could narrow down the year. Ser number T3737.

What's the plans for this one? It looks like you're starting with a machine that is in pretty good shape for being 40 years old?

Yes it is.. There's fuel and wiring to sort out and the newer tires to mount up.. and good to go..

I'll have a look at the trans.. And there is a clear number on the motor.

Firewall tag doesn't show up on those usually, trans number should.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
                Joe Camel never does that.

The 1977-86 service manual covers t-3382 to t-5590 so you are in the range for age, did you try calling ODG directly thats what i did with my older argo. they where very helpful and quick.

If that is the stock hood it came with it should be 75-76, looks like the front was painted black ,that would have been silver. It is clean looking, hope those tires were wore out on something else unless they were cut for tracks.

Wow ! I'm used to working on something Obscure and rare like the Bazoo was.. not a lot of help.. Argo's lot's of help. The transmission number is 4925H if that helps .. We put a new walbro carb on yesterday so that the air cleaner and choke control will fit again.. the motor runs good for such an old one. I've changed the wiring a bit. Swapped the key that has the headlight position on it for a lawn tractor one I had that does not.. So I put the lights on their own switch. also installed a fuse block instead of inline fuses. I got a full set of newer tires with the Argo.. and yes those on there are worn out.. so I've got to change over.. I'll clean and paint the rims too. Here's a video I made yesterday morning before doing the fixing.. https://youtu.be/OgMIOMUxXS8 I'll make another when we take it out for a ride later today.
