  • why not the 20 horse?

why did argo never use the 20 horse magnum and only the 18 and 17 twin?

maybe because the early magnums had overheating issues.

The 80s or the 90s magnum because my 93 has a m18 I just think that the 20 magnum would have been a more than perfect engine for an Argo?

The 20 may not have been available at that time or more likely there was not a crankshaft option available at time of production.

That 18 will push it right along if running correctly.

Of the 18 hp motor amd the 20 hp motor are the same block, then the 18 hp would run cooler, the 2 extra hp would make the 20 run hotter.

Advertised hp is just a number. There is all sorts of duty ratings involved. A 18 hp kohler and 20 are both 570 cc. A 570 cc mororcyc engine can make 57 hp, a yamaha rv can make 132 horsepower, but will overheat faster and not last as long under prolonged full power 57 hp operation, where the 18 hp Kohler will make 18 hp all day long, every day. And at the end of the day, if you can put 10 percent less power to the wheels, axles, and gearbox, it will last that much longer.

Or it was just that much cheaper to buy.
