  • Conversion from shear pins to splines axles.

    Hello,

First time posting. I have a 70's 8x8 argo with shear pins. Wondering if anyone knows what's involved with the conversion to splined axles and any part numbers for what I'll need?

Hello Chris, welcome to the forum. I'm not very knowledgable when it comest to Argos and parts interchangability. If you are wanting to use genuine Argo parts, you may want to try contacting our Argo forum sponsor, Doug at Fox Valley Argo Sales. He could help you source new parts.

Another option is to have a machine shop make the axles and sprockets you need. You could give them the diameter and length of the axles as well as the tooth count of the sprockets and size of the chain. 6x6 World member whipper-ag has made axles and sprockets for members in the past.

Just some ideas to think about until an Argo expert chimes in. Welcome to the forum.

Thank you Mike. I already have 8 splined axles from a 90's Argo. How would I get in contact with Doug?

Check the thread from spookum, you will have to search his posts. There are frame mods needed for the front, new inner flanges for the reasr six axles and the fronts, new inner bearings depending on the axles and of course the sprockets.
