mine and your argo are very similar in alot of ways,my chains were stretched and wore out and when i turned either way all it was was alot of chain slap and snap and the chains would ride over the sprokets.i just bought 200 dollars wort of chain to do most of the argo over, notice inthe pic how much slack is taken up by the tensioners that not good, check and see if the chain touched the frame if so get rid of it i had to do it to, if you expect to have an argo dont cheap out on anything just buy it! send more pics of the engine, tranny, all the chains, whatever and we can help you with it. im am 15 years old and got all this knowlege from the people on here,i didnt have a clue how to change the oil in an argo first but here i am taking the tranny out, replacing chain.etc

Ahh i see, ok thanks Curtis, how is the "steel pan" on the floor inside the frame rails in your argo ? As you can see in my pics mine is rotten, i was thinking of getting some galvanised sheet metal and screwing it in place with self tapping screws...

With that floor pan rusted out. You should think about taking the frame out and welding in a new steel pan to the frame. Need to fix it might as well bite the bullet and fix it right. Argojim had to do that to his conquest.

Nice buggy Curtis ! Looks alot like mine but yours in better condition..
Dan67, ugh..ya...i just knew one of you guys would say that i should rip it out & do it right.., especialy after i saw how nice the pans are in other machines of the same age, like Curtis's... Well, That's what happens when you store an argo outside in the snow and rain, open to the elements for 20 years I guess. I will most likely do the right thing... It's just a pain in the butt working on machines outside all the time.. I dont have a shop anymore.

so you have nowhere to put it/if not not much point in fixing it and then keeping it outisde to let it rust again? unless your going to fix it then sell it

I always keep it completely covered with a tarp when it's not in use, unfortunately my grandfather didn't. He left it open for years. Also, I have the "convertible" canvas canopy with the zipper sides from argo, so it will never be open to the elements. I do have to address the rust though, before it spreads. Right now my frame rails are still solid, but rust is like a cancer and it spreads if not dealt with.

After you click "post a reply" if you click on The "go advanced" button beside The button that says "post quick reply"you are given more options, one of those options is "attach" then you upload pictures from your computer or phone to your profile and attach them.

Stephens Small Engines on Brock Rd in Pickering had my Kohler air filter and oil filter in stock when I needed it.

Kris, I see your in Oshawa....we should get together for a ride. There are a few good spots fairly close to challenge you and your machine.
