  • Video of the Argo and several Lifted Machine on Awesome Mud trails

Today I got the privilege of running with several lifted high dollar machines that weren't afraid of difficult mud trails or swamp conditions. It was the first time I really got to see just what a high dollar lifted machine can do on a really, really bad mud trail. I am talking ruts, roots, stumps under the water and it was a pleasure to watch what each machine could and would do in a given situation. After the wheeled machines went through or over an awful section of trail all eyes were on the Argo and my machine did not disappoint climbing rooted stump and hidden logs under the water. The machine did every thing well and I had an absolute blast.

As always, great video Dan. Did the guys you ran with ask many questions about your Argo like how much did it cost? The reason I ask, while at the Mud Nats, I talked to several folks who were amazed at our Argos, and one guy that I pulled out told me he had $50,000 in his lifted/modified vehicle and thought mine was more expensive, when I explained my Argo was less than $18k his jaw dropped.

Thanks Dan! As always, really cool video. It's nice to see signs of spring,ie. the trees leafing out, looks like we are going to get another inch of snow today.....yahoo....not.
Noel,it's great having aatvs at the parks, and in the mix with the quads, and side bys, really shows that there is an alternative to spending tons, and getting in the mud.....and out, without too much trouble, and staying clean and dry.

You're right Noel, practically everybody I ride with (when I get a chance anymore) has way more money invested than I do. Their only real advantage is high speed on smooth ground or shallow mud holes. Pretty much everything else the 'ol AATV reigns supreme.

Noel there were a multitude of questions after every mud hole, mostly cost, but engine, swimming etc. Everyone knows a side by side is pretty expensive, these machines had gear reduction boxes, 36" tires, Gorilla axles, high $ rims, exhaust mods, snorkel kits, etc. etc. So I am sure they were thinking about dollars spent vs mud performance. One of those high dollar machines broke and axle and another had the return to the pits with a broken rack and pinon-stumps and roots are really hard on wheeled machines and I am sure its hard to watch an Argo breeze through a rutted root filled area that just damaged your high dollar machine.

I came across a mud hole at Big Nasty that would high center my Argo every time I tried to pull out, I backed out three times, each time I would high center going forward. Finally I locked the right track down spun the left track and got the left track on the high spot and got the right track on higher ground and eased forward pulling my machine right out of an awful mud hole. I am not sure I could have done this with out the ability to lock down one side. This is one of many times the old style transmission has worked for me in swamp conditions

I did the exact thing in this mud hole, specifically watch my yellow Argo at 1:23 through 1:55 into the video and see how the ability to lock a side is a great advantage, for that part, watch the entire video, its a great one.
