  • Silent Rider Exhaust Mod.....2016 Scout

I bought the Scout for hog hunting at night and noise is always an issue so I decided to add a Silent Rider exhaust to reduce some of the exhaust noise.

I will only use it hunting at night so I made it removable. All I have to do is remove the 3 bolts and it slips out of the coupling that is welded into the exhaust pipe. I am waiting for a part and then I will add an upper brace using Ram Mount parts.

EDIT....Brace installed in top 2 photos now. I used the Ram mount so it will be removable with the muffler.

Added a couple of hog hunting videos for entertainment. IR Defense Thermal scope on an AR15 6.8 SPC.

Here is a pic taken during the installation.

Does it work good? If you can make a video before and after so we can hear the difference. Looks good!!!

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
      Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

You have to order the universal unit....they do not make one specifically for the Argo. They ship it with hangars and adaptors. I had to cut and weld from the adapters that came with the unit. I went to a metal fabrication shop and had them cut the aluminum bottom plate for me. I bolted it to the Argo with (3) 1 1/4 x 5/16 stainless bolts. Then I took it to a muffler shop and had them weld the pieces together. The brace is riveted on with aluminum rivets.

You will also have to order an extra heat shield and have it welded on with the other pieces. The stock unit has the heat shield on the wrong side.

That hog action reminds me of my deer lease in East Texas. Hogs running everywhere, round flying, and hogs being converted to pork.

How did you find the noise reduction is it significant or were you expecting more

I haven't done any real testing yet but I will try to make a comparison video.

I have a 2014 XTI and have owned Argos for many years the noise is my biggest pet peve. I have contemplated installing a second muffler either aftermarket or something similar but never did. If the noise could be reduced even at low speeds it would be a significant improvement, I am very interested in your findings please keep us informed, Moving the muffler further towards the rear may give you gains also but dealing with a hot pipe along the side is trouble also

When I ride an atv or a motorcycle, I just use ear plugs. You can pick up a box at H.F. or Northern Hydraulic for $12/ 100 sets.

That's cheap, now I just need someone to head out a week before opening day and "plug" as many deer on my plot as possible
