I've got a '68 Argo with the original Kohler K399-2T two stroke motor that I am restoring. It runs pretty good for being early in the restoration, but it is SO LOUD! The exhaust appears to be the original unit, but I am wondering if there is something I can do to quiet it down a bit?
The muffler currently on it is about 11" long and looks like a round, welded can. I know with newer mufflers, there is stuffing that can be replaced to reduce noise, but what about this one? I have not yet removed it, only stuck a camera underneath to get a look. From what I see, i don't think you can take the can apart..unless I'm missing something.
Is there a way to quiet this one down, or do I need to replace it? Any replacement suggestions?
