I'm gonna watch a couple videos because I haven't done this in about 20 years... and trust me when it comes to stuff like this, it's not like riding a bicycle... age will cause you to forget s*#t over the
    years...

Edit: do you guys run premium gas? I can't find a consensus on what kind of gas to use. Some guy swear by premium other swear by regular, If ethanol causes breakdown of the lines, should I just switch to premium to prevent this happening in the future? I will say that I tried running premium in The first tank of gas I ever put in it and it didn't seem to run as smooth as it had before. . . So I switched back to regular gas. After I clean the carb I'm going to be replacing the line.
Edit 2 : also, everything I've been reading online says that clear line goes hard in less than a year and has to be replaced. I don't want to be replacing the line every year so should I just stick with black neoprene then? Or is there another option?
I would stick with the black line. there is some rated for ethanol fuel.

getting the carb off that thing is the hardest part of a rebuild on it. take a picture of the linkage before removal to make it easier on the other end. those carbs have some fairly large ports. needle and seat stuck or clogged, or main jet clogged are likely the issue. also with it removed, make sure the float floats... although if it didn't you would have the opposite problem as it would never shut.

not sure what fuel was recommended for that engine. I tend to be both cheap and lazy about these things. I run whatever fuel makes the engine happy. If you find something that makes good power, idles and doesn't knock or ping, stick with it.

Hey Kris, I can help you out with your carb if you need or want. I have a large heated ultrasonic cleaner, give me your carb and the kit and I will return it in like new condition within a day.

My dirty Argo Vanguard carb when I picked up the machine (idle issues, hard starting, then flooding...)

Same carburator 30 minutes later ready to go back on the motor.

Wow thanks Steve, thats very generous of you and it's much appreciated ! I may take you up on that in the future, but first I want to give it the old "college try" and see if I can do it on my own. You know it's one of those vendetta things... LOL

Can i turn this fuel port out without having any problems from doing it ? I was wondering if I could just spin it out and spray carb cleaner in there and maybe fix it fast and easy? LoL

            image.jpg

Thats the port that the fuel line conects to on the side of the carb. I shot carb cleaner in there and there was no change,

Edit: The reason I'm trying to do this quick and easy without removing the carb is because I haven't found / purchased a carb kit with the proper gaskets yet and I'm afraid to take it off until I get one because I don't want to forget where everything goes LOL

I seriously doubt removing that will help you at all, the chances of the supply inlet being clogged are very slim. You most likely have dirt blocking a jet or maybe something between the needle and seat, the carb will need to come apart for a proper cleaning. Take lots of pics from various anlges so you don't have to remember how it goes back. You can do a quick clean without removing the carb from the motor using some carb cleaner and compressed air, but you will need to split the carb for sure. Most of the dirt that causes greive will be found in the bottom of the fuel bowl.

HOOWAA ! Disregard my previous post brother, I said to hell with it, decided to man up and rip the carburetter off, tore it apart & sprayed everything with carb cleaner and cleaned out all the Jets the best that I could, put it back on and we have life my friends !!!

Good to hear! No head over to Crappy Tire and grab a fuel filter for it.
