  • Avenger HDI top speeds?

Hey guys, got a 2012 hdi apparently with the low speed, hi torque admiral. Max speed I can get out of this thing is 26kph. Any way i can make this thing a bit faster? What kind of speeds do you guys see in your hdi? Thanks

HI Andy, I might get 4or5 more KPH at 40 or 4100RPM. I hear that Argo are offering several different ratios now that I assume involve internal tranny ratios. ..but there is a double sprocket on the jackshaft that powers to the front axle and rearward to the second and all other axles. Could a guy add a tooth to that double sprocket??? Would it be too much??? It would obviously require longer chains (which are doubles). Wonder what Argo Jim thinks? There must be people out there who have done this or know why it can't be done.?

I've always wondered with the newer speeds, is there some form of new suspension? In the terrain I've been on, 27 km/h (off my gps) is lots.. My back and shoulders let me know that I've gone a long distance at that speed in the bush.. What happens, if you're going through tall grass and happen to not see that stump or fallen tree that is hidden in it? I'm guessing that the higher speeds may lead to more equipment failure/damage and an increase in personal injury... IMO...

I like the higher speed, my conquest hits 32km hr and on hard ground i would like more. The lower geared avenger would seem very slow.

I believe you actually would want to change the 25 tooth gears to 24 tooth gears ( think 10 speed bike) as they are much easier to do and easily reversible if the desired effects are not eveident. Your idea would work but require a machinist to make a new set of jackshafts.
