Why was there a gap? Is this something that most installs would have to do? Looks great and thanks for posting the pics

I'm not sure why the gap existed. It was pretty small, (about 1/4",) but, it was enough that I didn't want it interfering with the operation of the wiper. From the vid I saw on you tube, it didn't appear to be on other's installations.
