  • External Alternator kit

    Hello

I would really like to get some pics of the external alternator kit. Also if anyone has the installation instructions. I would like to make my own mount and would like to see how the factory does it.

    I have a 93 vangard 6x6 with a 16 HP briggs.

    alternator

Akk you do is go to a pick your part and take one off a Geo or any small car with built in regulator 1 wire or 3 wire and make a bracket to mount on the side of your engine, place your belt around the flywheel starter pully and your done.

Hey looking to do this mod on a 77'-79' TB model. As the rectifier is $200 from the dealer here. I can get an alternator for approx. $100 and have more amps. Does anyone have pics of the setup? I can fabricate my own bracket / tensioner assembly. Just need to see alternator location etc..
If it looks like you can't make it, you probably can't, but what the hell you can call in sick tomorrow......right?

          Update on my end.
Bought an alternator from NAPA ( part # 13-8331). small body off a 91' suzuki samuri. 50 Amp output, internally regulated, only need 1 ignition wire and battery connection to make it work! Has 2 more connectors, 1 for dash light ( maybe it will run gauge?), not sure what other will do. I still have to build a bracket but will let you know how it works out when installed.

Maybe you could remove the recoil starter.

I was able to cut up a water pump pulley off small block chevy and weld it to the clutch. Here is my post. Works great.
