  • 25" tires on 2002 Conquest?

Hello everyone Iam a new member to this world, I just purchased an Argo 8 wheel Conquest. I needed something to get me to a duck blind that 4 wheelers and boats could not. I have owned 3 and 4 wheel ATV's for many years. The Argo seems to be what I needed. It is a 2002 model in real nice condition, 100 hrs but it does need tires. It has the runamucks on it and they do not pull well in the mud. I have been offered a new set of Rawhide tires with the rims for $4oo.oo I know this is cheap but they are 25 inch tires and the tires on the Conquest now are 22 in. How much clearance is needed between tires???? I think the 25's will almost touch one another.
I realy need the traction in the mud, I thought about tracks but I think I would prefer to stay with tires....I will put an outboard motor on it for the water.
Anyone out there know what to do???

    thanks, 8x8cajun

If they are argo 9" wheels and tires, they are just a little too large to clear each other. They're actually around 24" dia, and you need just a little under that. The expensive argo frontier tire would be the best tire, 22" rawhides another option.

      8x8cajun,

I think the consensus is that the new frontier tires on a conquest = an unstoppable machine. you would need 8 inch wheels (look for Max newer style Krims). The frontier tires are expensive
but from all the reviews good in the mud and fantastic swimmers.

        micmac ,

The Frontier tires are expensive , and then add to this cost the price to buy eight K-rims along with the tires , and it get REALLY expensive !

          frontier tires ?

so the "frontier tires " are better in the mud than the rawhide? Who makes them?

            frontier tires

OK if we are talking about the tires that are on the Argo Frontier...I think these are rawhides....I have been on the line with Route 6X6 and he has a set of 8 rims and tires for around $850 delivered to my home.....next question....why put the tires on backwards?? it seems they would pull better in the mud it the tread was facing in the right direction.....easy now, remember I am new to this, I grew up driving tractors and 4 wheelers.

Cajun doesn't need 8" wheels.. the conquest already has them. Running the rawhide tires in the "wrong" direction is the way they swim the best.

                No Kidding mudbug3!

Roger good call on the 8" wheels on the conquest I didn't know that. I thought that Argo always used 9" wheels.

The "frontier" tires are not the Rawhides. They are produced for Argo for their Frontier line and for now only available through Argo dealers. Cajun there is nothing wrong with the Rawhides but you were looking for the best mud/swimmers to fit the conquest.

If you go with the rawhides check out Tires Unlimited or Bike Bandit. I think you will find the Rawhides much cheaper than what you where quoted.

Good luck and take some pics I don't think I've seen a conquest on rawhides before

                  Hey cajun,
The 25" rawhides will NOT fit. No matter witch way you look at it, or try it.
The 24" Frontier tires are the largest diamiter tire that you will get on that Conquest.
I KNOW, I HAVE A SET ON MY CONQUEST.
The Frontiers are a very tight fit as it is, with only about 1/4" of clearance between the front tires.
While the tires appear to be backwards, the truth is, that they work best this way.
If you decide to go with a set of Rawhides, you will be limited to 22" tires.
Frontier tires are worth about $136.00 per tire.

I have been running Frontier tires on my Conquest since last fall, and I tell ya........NOTHING else even comes close.
Guys up here have been changing over to them as fast as the dealer can get them in.

I have several vids up on Youtube, that you can check out.

                    Frontier tires

Rock Doc is right on, here's my testimonial, my buddy John, who has an 08 Argo Avenger and I, with my 07 Frontier all went swimming last weekend and did some Arctic Grayling Fishing. Between the 3 of us (John, his wife Wendy and I) we must have caught over 30 fish. All caught and released but we had a blast. Just wanted to let you know, we were just drift fishing in our Argo's, John & Wendy had gotten really close to shore so motored their way back to the other side of the lake. I drifted another 2 or 3 minutes and fished, than cranked the Frontier up and started motoring. Not only did I pass them after giving them a 2 or 3 minute head start, I ended up at the other end like 5 minutes before they did. Those Frontier tires are sure good swimmers just like you say.

Maybe I can help you out with some links on where you can get some of these tires.

Your Nationwide Max ATV Dealer - New and Used Max and Argo Amphibious 6x6 ATVs - Sales, Service, Parts Brandon is a member here and he sells the Argo Frontier tires.

www.tiresunlimited.com or ATV Tires - Goodyear Rawhide III Atv Tires

Tires Unlimited sells the 22" Rawhide III for $48 or so I believe. If you call them and they don't have them you could try that second link. Let us know how it works out.
